Your informationHandled intentionally

What this site collects, why it is used, and the choices available to you.

Effective and last reviewed September 10, 2026.

Plain-language summary

Dane Does Data Finance stores the information needed to run its educational calculators, save progress, and share scenarios within a household. It does not connect to your bank or brokerage. Do not enter passwords, Social Security numbers, account numbers, or other government or financial-account identifiers.

Financial values can still be sensitive even without those identifiers. Access controls are designed so authenticated financial records are available only to members of the household that owns them.

Information collected

  • Accounts: username, email address, household membership, password hash, and login activity timestamps.
  • Financial planning: values you enter for income, expenses, debts, assets, holdings, cash flows, forecasts, net-worth snapshots, and saved scenarios.
  • Anonymous financial journey: a random browser cookie, answers, recommendations, and basic journey events used to resume progress and improve the tool.
  • Access requests: the email address submitted when requesting an invitation.
  • Game telemetry: random browser identifiers converted immediately to keyed hashes, bounded game statistics, short-lived raw event history, and coarse visit flags for meaningful interaction, ten visible seconds, and a browser-declared automation hint. It does not collect a browser fingerprint, user agent, device identifier, IP address, or referrer for game analytics.
  • Operations: web servers, security controls, and rate limiters may temporarily process IP addresses, browser details, and request metadata.

How information is used and shared

Information is used to calculate results, save and restore plans, operate household features, prevent abuse, diagnose errors, and understand aggregate product usage. Financial scenarios are shared with every authenticated member of the household that owns them; they are not public links.

The site uses Umami Cloud for website analytics, an email provider for invitations and operational messages, hosting and database providers to operate the service, and market-data sources such as Massive, Alpha Vantage, and Vanguard. Market-data requests may include ticker symbols or fund identifiers, not your complete household plan.

Retention

  • Inactive anonymous journey drafts expire after 90 days.
  • Unclaimed completed recommendations expire after one year.
  • Raw Hexploration game events are retained for about 24 hours. Visit telemetry is deleted after 30 days; its keyed browser estimate rotates weekly. Bounded completed-game summaries remain for aggregate gameplay analysis.
  • Authenticated account and household data currently remain until they are removed through an approved request; there is no self-service deletion workflow yet.

Your choices and requests

You can clear the anonymous journey cookie in your browser, choose not to submit an access request, and limit analytics through browser privacy controls. To ask what authenticated information is associated with you, request an export, request correction, or request deletion, email hello@finance.danedoesdata.com.

Before acting, identity and household membership must be verified. Because household records may belong to more than one person, a deletion request may require review of its effect on other household members.

Security and changes

The service uses password hashing, encrypted HTTPS transport, CSRF protection, rate limits, household-scoped authorization checks, restricted cookies, and automated security tests. No internet service can promise absolute security. Report a suspected vulnerability or privacy concern to hello@finance.danedoesdata.com.

This statement will be updated when collection, sharing, retention, or user-choice practices materially change. The effective date above identifies the current version.
